Jupiter

The Planet of Brotherly Love

Jupiter is represented by the equation of the unconscious above the practical application of knowledge. It’s influences are many but must always be considered in the light of the receiver, the receiver being the rising sign.

This influence shows the ethical tendencies of those who are represented by the planet Jupiter and in a general way the ethics of the native. The status of Jupiter in the natal chart must be considered in total. That is to consider the zodiacal state as well as the aspects to other planets. Further, to consider carefully the  nature of Juptier itself, its actions and reactions as it realizes itself through the zodiacal sign in which it is posited.

The nature of Jupiter is one of expansion. The need to be always pushing the outer perimeters of situations. The need to define and also to see the whole picture. The predispostion to ordering so as to gain understanding of nature and it’s processes. It possesses the enthusiasm of fire and the will to ignite and embark upon new horizons while never falling back on pedantic philosophies. Jupiter has always been connectied with wisdom and philosophy. Philosophy coming from the Latin roots philos and sophia, meaning friend of wisdom. Jupiter is connected with higher knowledge. It is the combination of love which comes from the unconscious and the integration of this love into our daily existence.

Jupiter is the planet of brotherly love. The caretaker who oversees the welfare of humanity and the masses. It is the manifestation of love combined with the integration of time. It is symbolically represented by the moon above the cross meaning love above all things practical. Then love is not practical but belongs to the soul of mankind. The instincts working in harmony with necessity. Jupiter is about harmony and the equalization of the forces of nature, the balancing of the human soul with worldly needs. Jupiter by its wisdom uses the axis of time and space to solve all human problems and therby releases us from earthly suffering. Jupiter, however, has its own brand of suffering and that is the suffering of time and space.

Jupiter represents the totality of justice. A justice too wide and vast for mankind to embrace. The soul is the forerunner of justice. We have our debts and obligations and those things which are destined to us but also those things which we are expected to contribute to our worldly existence. It is the balancing of these things that Jupiter does best. Jupiter takes into account the whole picture, those things that we as humans are not able to see.

Jupiter rules the 9th and 12th houses of the archetype and these houses are connected with higher knowledge and things hidden. So Jupiter represents the gavel of justice which hammers out the fairness of life. It starts with the broad perspective of justice and narrows to focus on the necessities of life. It is our concept of God and higher nature that dictates who our God is. If we are kind and compassionate, so it is that our God is kind and compassionate. If we are narrow and ruthless, so it is that our God is ruthless with us.
Higher influences are above the horoscope and those things which lie beyond the horoscope are what give life freshness and surprise. These events that are not predictable.

To believe in the unpredictable is to to believe that there are influences greater than our own. It is the ability to escape ourselves and believe in the unexpected and the unpredictable. It is the ability to see that there is a great picture in which we are a part. It is divine strength to pursue that niche for which we can make a difference.
